New members are always welcome!
Membership fees ($30.00) are due by March 31st of each year. New memberships that start in January – March will continue to March 31st of the next calendar year for one time only. New member orientation will be conducted by the Membership Coordinator and will include an introduction to the Surrey Museum Textile Studio and procedures for using the building.
- New members must be in Good Standing before using the library or using the equipment rentals.
- Good Standing… Members are in good standing when they pay annual dues and attend a minimum of two (2) general meetings per year.
The general meeting takes place in the Surrey Museum, the second Wednesday of each month from September through June. It consists of a business meeting, an interesting program related to our crafts, and a vibrant show and tell of members work that should not be missed. New members need to contact us for location within the museum as the room can change for the general meeting.
Time… Our meeting starts at 10:30am.
Refreshments… tea and coffee provided
We would also like to invite you to come and visit us any other Wednesday, to see what we are doing at the ‘drop in’ sessions hosted in the Archives Building basement. Drop in times are from 10:00am to 2:00pm and are subject to change. Please contact us before coming.
Members may become a textile studio volunteer. Training and supervision will be provided by Museum Staff. Volunteer duties include demonstrating weaving, spinning and related fibre arts, providing hospitality and history as well as handling artifacts from the ‘Honey Hooser Collection’.
PAWS volunteer members are invited to work on the looms in the textile studio at the museum. The looms can be threaded for blankets, tea towels, runners and other useful textiles. The more experienced members can help you with any questions you may have. Many of our members have increased their weaving confidence in the studio.
