Sheep to Shawl competition was held on May 14th, 2016 at the Surrey Museum in Cloverdale.
Pease Arch Weavers & Spinners team received the first price for its shawl.
The warp is handspun. One ply is Cotswold from a fleece that the team washed and processed, and one ply is handspun muga silk. As this was our 50th (golden) anniversary, we decided to make “gold” our theme. The Cotswold is known as the Golden Fleece because of its silky sheen and slightly golden colour. Muga silk also has a golden colour. The weaving pattern is Huck Lace which gave us a light airy fabric to enhance the golden sheen of the warp.
